1st February is #TimetoTalkDay, a day to encourage communities to come together to have conversations about mental health and together change lives.
To mark this day, Abbas spent an insightful afternoon at a mental health educational workshop organised by Mind in Harrow Hayaan Somali Mental Health Project in Wealdstone Library.
Mental health awareness has had a positive impact on the number of people accessing services. This has resulted in greater demands on the system. Abbas is determined to ensure that everyone who needs it can access mental health services in Harrow promptly. A recent visit to the Northwick Park Mental Health Center gave Abbas an insight into the fantastic care being provided and a better understanding of the pressures faced. Community-based mental health provision in collaboration between Integrated Care Boards, Harrow Council and the third sector is key.
If you are a community-based organisation helping people with mental health challenges, please do reach out to Abbas. He would be keen to hear about your experiences.
